We have been for years, the US government just doesn't seem to have picked up on that fact. Read "The Art of War," it clearly explains the Chinese method of waging war. Per "The Art of War" taking up arms is the last resort in war. There are better, more effective, and subtler tactics.
As of right now China has purchased oil rights in all countries that hate the US (Iran, Venezuela, etc.). China has also, quietly, purchased mineral rights in these countries. Also, North Korea is a poor country. Whom do you think is giving them the money to buy and support nuclear technology? And, my suspicion is (based on what I see China doing in the world and whom it is associating with) that China is helping a lot of the Arab terrorist organizations keep the US busy so the US does not focus on the long term implications of what the purchase of oil and mineral rights will do for China.

The war has already begun. The weapons are money and trade. Eventually it may come to physical contact but that is a long way off if it does. China is already waging war against us by flooding our country with goods. Then you have China's unwillingness to help disarm North Korea. They will let them deal with the physical end of things while the Chinese break us financially. I'm not saying dont trade with them but we need to have some rules to control the glut of products poring into the country. I know some will say that that isn't a free market but you cant just let it go when it could mean the destruction of a whole country's way of life. China is currently our Allie however its one of convince. Ultimately if we were to go to war with China, it will take all the worlds resources/countries to push them back. There may never be a shot fired, only that China will be the worlds richest and most influential country due to being the worlds largest manufacturer of goods.

War is a matter of logistics , the longer the supply line the more difficult the winning .
Hopefully this scenario will never come to pass . If it did , we'd have to destroy rice production right off the bat. A field army moves on it's stomach and gasoline, so we'd go after those supplies.
NUCLEAR ?
NO WINNERS !!

We can only win with nuclear weapons. China will eventually eat its self like Russia did. Government cannot control a burgeoning capitalistic society.

Has there ever been a winner in a war? And i mean a true winner. That would be someone who hasn't lost anything during a war.
Wars are always a loosing business; the few true winners are the financiers of wars. While financing both sides... they always win.
I somehow do not get the intention of your question. Why would we want to entertain the idea? Are you looking for work?
