Due to fear of viruses. Or would you like it and not care because you have anti-virus protection. Is this more of a problem in the UK? I ask this because I have a friend that I like a lot and I forwarded him a cute poem that I thought would make him laugh (I know he likes stuff like that) and he emailed me back and said he doesn't do the forwarding thing and said, "We are all a bit scared of viruses over here." He lives in England. do you think this was rude or legitimate?

I would not be bothered, and i don't think he should be, either. I have a guy friend who is the same way: i forward funny pictures or one of those chain mails that are sweet and funny and he NEVER looks at them. Its really annoying, but i guess some people just don't go for that sort of thing. Sorry!

Also, i do not think viruses are any worse over in UK. Its cyberspace! Its shouldn't matter where you are...the risk of viruses is a risk everyone takes when they get on the internet!

Maybe he doesn't read forwards you send him because some forwards talk about God and that is a sensitive subject for him. Or some say "send this to ten people you love" and he, like my guy friend, doesn't want to get into the whole "crush" and "love" thing b/c he likes just being friends with you.

Hope that helped :)

It's a polite way to say he's doesn't find your "cute" poem all that cute. Let it go. I don't do the forwarding thing either. It's an inane practice that some people find manipulative and trite.

Once you let people send you junk, then your inbox gets filled with crap that you waste time going through to find the important stuff.

Some people like that sort of thing and others don't. Simple as that. Don't make a big deal out of it.

Some people get so many forwards that they don't even have time to check their real e-mail. I rather my friends send a personal note to me then forward me something that someone else wrote. Some times when there isn't time to write a full note I will send e-mail that is a forward but put a small note of why it made me thought of them. So I think that the virus part is a little weak, but in some cases true, but more so that is more polite to say that you don't want something then to just delete it when it comes into your in box, that way you don't waste your time sending it. :)

Next time you want to "forward" a cute poem why not copy and paste it in an email that you send to him. That way he gets it from you and he doesn't worry about getting a virus.

Chain mails and forwards are considered bad some people. Please don't think that your friends was being rude. He was just being careful.

If you want to send poems etc., use plain-text -- this reduces possibility of malware. Also, don't just forward the full mail, which includes all the email addresses. Just copy and paste the relevant text and send it.

I dont like it either, when ppl forward me "stuff", and most I hate those stupid chain letters promisng luck for ever if you forward it to 20 other of your friends.

I have collegues in my office also dont like to find those kind of mails in their mail box.

I think, its becaseu at work you want to work, and at your work mail adress you dont want to have funny stuff (even if its cute and funny).

I am only using my work mail adress, because at home I had enuff hours spending reading mails and sending mails, so I do not want to do that at home.

Maybe other people feel lie this, too.

If I want to see funny stuff, I browse to funny websites myself.

But,
the reason I dont want funny mails, is not because I fear Virus.
I just regard it as spam, even if it comes from a guy I know, its still just spam, cute or funny does not matter.

I can understand this. There are alot of people out there that are that worried. Next time... don't forward. Just copy and paste the text in a new e-mail then send.

Maybe he has no patience for junk mail? You may like poems, but he may not. Have you been sending alot of these kinds of indirect mail messages to him? Some people consider non-personal mail indirect acts of spamming. It can be quite annoying. I know I hate it. I have a guy from work who sends me prayers all the time. I'm religious, but I hate prayer mail. I just delete it though, I don't try to hurt his feelings.

He's not rude. He's one of the normal people among us who doesn't like getting poems and chain emails, etc. It's always stupid stuff, it seems, that people feel compelled to forward.

Well run a good virus scanner and don't douwnload attachments. You shouldn't get a virus just by someone forwarding text
