Of course people do! Look at American Idol and Singapore Idol!

It’s cruelly ironic that 80’s rocker, Billy Idol, was once witch hunted by some pious groups for allegedly saying that one can become an idol by calling himself an idol! Two generations later, screaming eight-year-old girls, pious and otherwise, tune in twice a week, anxiously anticipating the crowning of their next Idol!

I’ll answer your question. The term ‘idolatry’, in its derogatory sense, should not be compatible with the non-Christian universe. Outside of the monotheistic universe, ‘idolatry’ ceases to be a logical concept and ceases to exist. Only Christians need to use the term. So, paradoxically, the only people who really believe in the derogatory concept of idolatry are either Christians, or those who have heard of the term.

No. Idolatry is a big "no-no" in the Bible. People today have all kinds of idols that they worship instead of God......public figures, actors and actresses, politics, material things, sex, the list goes on and on. Anybody that doesn't put God and Jesus Christ first is seriously missing the boat. There are too many distractions in this world.

namaste.

people do it by the billions. It's called religion, money, possessions, etc. No, i don't believe in it. We are what we're searching for. If anything, people should "worship" the Self. It's there in each of us as pure awareness. Can never go wrong with this kind of worship!

Great question tiny!

Idol worship?
People will worship something and often somethings.
Either we worship God, self, possessions, or even others.
It's in our nature and unavoidable. That is why the Bible quotes Jesus as saying, "Their hearts are far from me, they worship me in vain, their words are but rules taught by men". We will worship, give our focus, to something or someone. It is unavoidable.

Why shouldn't you. 99% of everybody else in the world has no idea what they're worshiping.

Ah,religious question.
Question is, how do you define "idol"?
Can I say that Allah,Jesus, and Buddha are all idols?
Why not?
We looked up to them just as we looked up to our favoured celebrities...

Let's say, it's OK to believe in this "being" which is known as God to all the humans in our world.

And if I say i believe in this God,shall it be Idol?Or God?
