It means that you are liable for what you do, and that you know the difference between right and wrong, and that you brought about consequences by your own actions.

Accountability for actions really implies being prepared to reap what you sew.

If you commit a negative action that creates a negative response, don't slither away and deflect the blame to someone else, stand up and accept the reprecussions.

Accountability for an action means to be present for the outcome.

You already phrased it perfectly, "responsible for your actions"

A 18 month old baby tells you to SHUT UP because she is repeating a comment she has heard over and over. She cannot discern between right and wrong, so she is not responsible for the comment.....

Unlike a teen ager who does the same thing out of disrespect. They can be held more accountable because they should have developed a level of intelligence which allows them to discern between right and wrong, and then their "CHOICE" was to do wrong.

to be accountable is to be liable to being called to account or answerable; liable means legally obligated or responsible; and responsible is liable to be required to give account, as of one's actions or of the discharge of a duty or trust

i think the best word here is "liable".

other synonyms u can use for "accountable" are: answerable, charged with, culpable, obligated, obliged, straight, surefire

but thats exactly what it means..
if you do wrong then you must take whatever punishment comes your way.
if you put your hand in a fire, expect to get burnt.
dont blame anyone else for something that you did.
youve only yourself to blame
