Also, does anyone know if I have my Master's degree from the United States, will it be accepted for employment consideration in the UK.
I am a physician assistant interested in moving to the UK and I am already married so that is not an option.
And how long does it usually take?
Thanks

I am aware that the UK is "full." So is the United States with illegal immigrants. Obviously, the world population is getting out of hand. However, I am looking to go LEGALLY and pay my dues just as everyone else and I have credentials so it's not like I am going to waste space and not contribute to society.
So answers such as "be born here" and "dont come here" are not appreciated nor welcome.

As far as I know, there are three ways to get into UK legally.
- Get someone to sponsor your work-permit. If you are already actively involved in searching for a job, and if you have found a potential employer, then they can sponsor you the work-permit.
- "Working-Holiday" visa is another option. This visa combines both holiday and work and hence the name. You can apply this visa yourself, but you need to show that you can support yourself financiall and that you'll not depend on benefits. This visa is valid for 2 years, but you can only work for an year. I don't know where you are from, but I think this applies to commonwealth citizens only.
- The third option is "Highly Skilled Migrant Programme". This is based on points system and if your profession is highly skilled, then you are eligible for this. You need a minimum of 65 points. This takes one's salary, work-experience, education, age and marital status into consideration.
To answer as to how long it takes, it depends on the route you take. Usually you can obtain one of these visas in few weeks time.
I have supplied the link for home office in UK and it should give you all the information.

is this what we Brits resort to now, its so embarrassing! Sir,
you wilbe able to find work inthe United Kingdom and yes yor Degree willbe accepted, I am sure it was from a respected University in the USA, so it will not be a real problem for you to find work especially with work experience as well. The best way to approach the matter will be to see if the U.K Health service has any such openings that fit your particular occupation and then they could arrange for you to get your work permit to enter the U.K. they will have to arrange that at the U.K Home office on your behalf. Good luck!

Stay there."THE UK IS NOW FULL"
Our benefits system is in meltdown,
Immagration is out of control,
The jobs are all taken by immigrants,
And the prison system is full.
Please only come if you want a free handout of up to 3 grand if you promise to go back home,
And we give free plane tickets as well,
Stay there your skills are probably needed more there than here.......
