Bleeding in the ear is a serious matter especially if there is no known cause ie bang to the head or injjury,,
if the blood is sort of watery and straw coulered ,you coud have a base of skull fracture, this would be very unlikely giving you dont mention any bangs or falls,, the second and more likely cause is a small bleed form one of the vessels within the inner ear,
in any case you should see a doctor just for peace of mind if nothing else,,
thanks

2 things come to mind. You may have a ruptured ear drum, which does happen, or you may have stuck a qtip too far into your ear, then again, that could also rupture your ear drum.

Ok, so it was only 1 thing, but it's definately something you need to get checked now as it can lead to permenent damage. I ruptured an ear drum during an auto accident in 96, and never had it looked into, and now I have a 50% or greater hearing loss in that ear.

**EDIT**

as for those saying go to the ER, fluid or blood leaking from an ear is a sign of head trauma as well, but this is usually only following a blow to the head such as one obtained in an accident. If this is something that just started happening and you have a pain in your ear, I wouldn't worry about the head trauma.

I would go see a doctor, if the pain is not directly in the ear it may not be just an ear infection. Non the less though even if thats all it is you still need to go to the doctor or local emergency room

Go to the Emergency room NOW!

Sorry iswd1, she said pain in the "HEAD" not ear.

Can you spell aneurysm?

Head trauma is what happens after an aneurysm ruptures.

Could be a simple sinus infection. Better safe than sorry.

The cause of Bleeding from ear may be more easily identified if other symptoms exist.

Nothing good at all that I can think of. Get it looked at immediately by a doctor. Your precious hearing may be at grave risk.

You've probably been listening to too many Paris Hilton records...

In all seriousness, consult a doctor.
