I am trying to figure out what law this violates. I am leaning towards theft or deception. Any suggestions on how to handle this issue?

Its called fraud. Lying to your neighbors for sympathy, free meals and clothes is one thing. The second she accepts any money from a charity, church group or other organization that has to audit its funds for tax exempt status shes committing a felony of varying degree depending on what state you're in. This doesn't turn out well for anyone, least of all your 13 y/o nephew who is walking under a karmic black cloud now and I hope never does develop cancer for real.

This is terrible and considered fraud, but the worst thing is she could be jinksing her child. Hasn't the community asked for test results from doctors? If not they are going against the law, and regulations. Once she is found out about by the wrong person she could end up in jail or even worse prison. If I were you I would bring that to her attention and up she could jinks her child. How would she feel if her child really indded up in prison?

It is theft, and parents have been sentenced to prison for this http://www.newsnet5.com/family/2956567/detail.html. It is also possibly a case of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, a mental illness where the parent seeks attention by having a sick/faked sick child, sometimes going as far as causing the child harm to gain attention.

Didn't she have to present medical proof in order to qualify? And if not you might want to drop an anonymous note to the donor asking if they don't require medical proof and if not why not? She may have a connection at the donor spot that is colluding with her crime. In which case if you donot get a satisfactory answer from your respondent go to the next higher level with the question.

Deception is not against the law, that i know of, however it IS against morality laws!!

I'd call her out on it, becareful tho, if ur nephew is in on it or not, he's going to be hurt as well.

Confront her first and see what she says.

HELLO! Remember the sextuplet scandal in Grain Valley! They were charged with 'stealing by deceit' and could get up to seven years in prison. I think these falls exactly under those guidelines. She's a sicko, turn her in ASAP!

Are you positive he doesn't have it? Doesn't she know it's illegal?? I think it's called fraud.

Skin cancer certainly can be serious, but in the big scheme of cancers it's not nearly as serious as most..

I am from a fair family so I'm quite familiar with this subject.
