young teenagers nowadays like to use foul language becoz the media is influencing their mindset and perhaps their parents take a part too. baggy pants is a "trend" now among teenagers. i should pass by-sort of.

Yes it bothers me too. Especially when I hear it in public places or at work and in earshot of little kids. Some use swear words because its normal to them, they've heard them all their life - learned from adults around them. Some use foul language to make them seem older and for the shock or "cool" effect it creates. Swearing is also a type of code used to "fit in" with their social group. There are lots of other reasons I'm sure. To me it represents a lack of sophitication and sheer laziness in not expanding their vocabulary. Having said all that this is not a new phenomenon and not restricted to the youth of today. Read Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, a classic in English literature, which is rife with vulgarity.

Laziness. I don't even think its shock anymore.... just laziness.
Bagging pants look ridiculous but the young have their own style just like we had ours. I remember my father hollering at my brothers for wearing white socks with a black suit...its what the guys all wore and nobody could tell them. Then there was the rolled up kakki's, the sideburns, the duck tail, etc., etc. It is all about being young and different, ha, ha. Didn't we think we were different and cool? Yeah, we did. So its just their time. We outgrew the fads and they will too.

Young kids use foul language because their parents use that language. Parents are getting younger and younger, meaning some parents are trying to be their friend and not the parent...
You also have kids that use that language because they want to fit in, and the lyrical content of the music they listen to don't make it no better.

It's a fad and it will go away just like the rest of them.
I can't figure it out either (pants pulled down so they can barely walk) it drives me nuts.
Anything for attention I guess !

Lack of parental involvement and lack of education basically.... you don't know any better if you aren't taught.
