Preconceptual care for both parents to be is very important. Eat well, sleep well, take folic acid to prevent birth defects, sort out financial stuff.
Keep in touch with your cycle. Ovulation occurs 14 days before your next period is due. So if you have a 28 day cycle, that will be on day 14. The ovum will only last for 72 hours max. Sperm can live in the genital tract for a week. So have vaginal intercourse around 3 days before and after ovulation. And in between too! Having sex every single day will actually reduce sperm quality.
Put a pillow under your bum after the act is over to keep all the sperm inside by your cervix.
Give up smoking/drugs too. Limit alcohol and don't get too desperate if it doesn't happen straight away or you have an "early miscarriage" because you've done a home test too early. A lot of women get disappointed when they miscarry (obviously), but it's natures way of getting things right. Leave the testing until you've missed your 2nd period.
Good luck. Enjoy the practising! :x

As someone said, folic acid. Make sure you are both healthy, take vitamins, cut caffiene. Anything good for your body could potentially help to create a child. Especially on the mans side, since sperm count and so much more is based off of his lifestyle.
If you are really serious, consult your family doctor or gyno. Otherwise you will just recieve another million answers to just have alot of sex.
You will get alot of stupid answers from people that know less than anyone else. Ignore answers that suggest that any specific postition increases your chances, or that different TYPES of sex changes your chances... When it comes down to it, the sperm just needs to reach the egg, and be strong enough to answer. Wether the sex is hard and fast, or slow or sensual, the sperm travels the same.
And to the person who says "Dont wash for a few hours afterwards...." Eww? Thats the STUPIDEST thing I have ever heard. Sperm makes their journey in a matter of seconds... So please wash, for your own benifit, and your signifigant others also!

Well, it is a good idea to try certain positions and do different things, it increases your chances sooner, have the guy be on top and after your done put a pillow under your hips to elevate and wait 15-30 minutes, this helps the sperm obviously to travel easier... again all things things just help increase your chances, obviously you realize that sex usually works, so ignore the idiots with that answer, and if you go to www.yourdays.com you can get a free ovulation calendar!!! most important try to relax and have fun, it takes time to get pregnant... so enjoy each other and I wish you luck!!!!! (My husband and I recently decided to try as well) take care!!

The key is to have sex when you are fertile, or ovulating. There are ways to determine when you are ovulating if you are not sure. Generally, if you have a 28 day cycle, you will ovulate around the 14th day. You can take your temperature and when it rises you are, or have ovulated. There are many sites and discussion boards with many women trying to conceive that can offer support and more information. Definitely relax though, it helps :-) There is a great book to get from the Library, it is called Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler that will help too.

It's already been said but I will say it again have lots of really good sex as often as you can in as many positions as possible and try not to get too hung up on ovulation. Also try having sex during your period its a bit messier than usual but that's when I got pregnant.Check out Lunar conception I know a few women who were beginning to despair that they would ever get pregnant but it worked for them.

missionary position they say is best for conceiving, and don't go to the bathroom or stand up straight away his little swimmers have to fight gravity then, so lie on your back and slightly raise your pelvis of the bed , or floor or where ever you may be. It gives the little guys a bit of a helping hand, good luck and have fun with it enjoy sex don't let it become a chore it will only become an arguing point between you and your partner.

well the obvious things has alreday been said loads so i wont repete it lol
are you on the pill?? if you are then when you come off it most doctors will tell you to wait about 6mths before starting to conceive but studdies have shown that you have a higher chance of getting preganant in the first 3 - 4 mths after stopping. its as if your body says "Wooo Hooo its time to make a baby" and give it time and dont worry about getting preganant streight away as sometimes it happens when you least expect it. give it about a year and if you havent concieved by then go talk to your doctor as they can advise you.
so good luck and happy Humpping lol

Take Folic acid and evening primrose, make sure you are both healthy and not stressed, do ovulating tests to see when is the best time and apparently if you put your legs in the air after you have sex it increases the chances.

I think it's pretty much all been said, make sure both of you are in good shape and remember that sometimes it's best not to just have sex willy nilly...it can require the same sort of planning as a complex military operation
