Yes. In the case of capital punishment or self defense. When it is for the greater good (killing one person who would have killed or did kill many). Evil needs to be punished. Sometimes an eye for an eye seems more ethical than giving a sadistic killer (say, Bernardo for instance) a place to live, food to eat, tv to watch etc for the rest of his life. Rather than ending his life as he ended the lives of innocents. Hurting an innocent person is unethical. Punishing a guilty one is ethical, to me. When guilt is 100% certain (especially when the sickening evidence is even on video) there should be no debate about capital punishment. Unfortunately Canada doesn't have it.

Define ethical in your question? if you are asking if it is ever right to kill someone...the answer is of course! what if someone is trying to kill you first? there are many situations where killing would be perfectly right. Ethics gets you into a whole other stupid discussion.

There should be a mandatory death penalty for cop-killers. If someone is that much of a sociopath that he or she will kill those who serve and protect the general public, how can ANYONE be safe with a cold-hearter killer like that around?

In very specific cases, it can. If it frees the world from a bit more pain, it may be. But it's complicated, everyone judges in their own way, and who is to say who's right?
