Panel on right side?

Question

When I open my inbox, there is an emty panel on the right hand
side. How do I get rid of it ?
This is what I recived.
Click on the X in the upper right hand corner of that panel to close it. ( NO X IN THE CORNER )
Go to the View menu and choose the Reading Pane submenu and choose Off. (NO OFF IN VIEW READING PANEL)
Please help, thank you.

What email program are you using? Each program has different options. The person who told you about the Reading Pane was talking about Outlook (I have Outlook 2003).
