i have been doing it since the good ol days of Napster and have acquired over 50,000 mp3's and 500 movies. the trick is to not leave anything in your shared folder for to long. they get you for sharing it not downloading it. agencies like riaa can send you letters all they want but they are just private agencies and need figment agencies like the FBI and/or local department such as the sheriffs office to obtain a warrant so they can search your PC but before they do that they need really good evidence your doing illegal activates. allot more than your downloading using lime wire. and here is something i do just in case. i store all my files on separate external hard drives. one for music the other for movies
those are very well hidden and i do regular updates with new song and movies. the rest are stored on Cd's and DVDs i the case that they should be banging on my door its a very short trip to my trash compactor which will completely destroy them.

Unless you are a distributer of the songs or files, the chances are slim.
There are millions of people using Limeware, Kazaa, Morpheus, etc. If the FBI was to bust every single person using it, it'll take years to get everyone. They are looking for the big fish.
Take Napster for example. They didn't bust all the people using Napster. They busted the one distributing the songs, the owner. So, downloading them is okay. Not legal, but okay. However, turning around and distributing them (selling, giving, whatever) in large amounts, you're asking for a bruising.

This question will get you quite a bit of paranoid answers, as I see it already has.

The best answer you can get is, they are cracking down on people doing the sharing much much more than the people downloading... so dont share, and less worries.

And to the person saying they got EMAILED by sharing... what sharing program needs your EMAIL ADDRESS??? LOL.

I wonder what you think the phrase "false racial character defamation lawsuit" means? It has no meaning to me, I also cannot guess at what "filing a racial matter" means to you, or debasement or anything else in your question. If you have a meaningful question about the law of some specific nation, feel free to ask it. If you are asking if judges decide if lawsuits have merit BEFORE those lawsuits get filed, by just knowing what the complaint says, there are no clairvoyant judges.

I would have said it would be low, but turns out alot of the internet service companies are alerting the BSA and RIAA to the fact that p2p traffic is occurring on their networks.

Friend just got a nasty email from the BSA for downloading and then sharing the file through a p2p program.

Its far less likely than infecting your system with malware by using them! Those who use them will receive their just deserts methinx! Its not a matter of if, Its a matter of when! You people who use them need to get a clue! It doesnt matter to me tho, I make good money cleaning this crap out of systems so you all just keep usin them!

i got a lot of songs before napster got shut down i think about um maybe 100-150. and now i use morpheus and i have never had a problem :)
mind you i am in new zealand but i don't think that would matter.
