The 2 most annoying I've heard are: "appreciate ya" and "...so I says..." DO THEY REALIZE HOW STUPID THEY SOUND??? #1 it's called THANK YOU, not "appreciate ya"... #2 it's called I SAID not "so I says". Maybe it's some stupid Mormon habit... than again 1/2 my wife's family say it so who knows where it came from but it's the most annoying BS I've heard in my life.

I live in southern Utah and I've never noticed people saying those. I work with the public so I get to handle people. In 11 months that I have been doing public work, I've never heard people say appreciate ya. Maybe it's certian area's as for being a Mormon thing I don't think so.

I am much more concerned about people's stupid thinking habits which by comparison can make poor speaking habits sound like the epitome of eloquence.

Get a grip! You'll find local colloquialisms where ever you go. From reading your question it seems to me you don't have a very firm grasp on English grammar either.

Just accept it as slang of the region. It defines where the person lives, not who the person is.

That's how us Utahns descended from our mormon pioneer ancestors, that's how they spoke, children learn it from their parents, and it's not going to stop, so get over it!
