Zippy symbolises the 1980's Child of the Thatcher Generation, the have now and pay the consequences later. If you like, having his cake, sausages, bread 'n jam and eating it. If we'd only followed George's careful example and saved our pennies for a rainy day...

He was a turtle, but lost his shell at an early age.
This had a terrible emotional effect on him, causing him to become outspoken, loud, and aggressive by way of trying to compensate for what he saw as a huge inadequecy.
His behaviour escalated to such worrying extents that the decision was made to surgically attach a muffling device to him - hence the zip.
I thought everyone knew that, and that Bungle was a homosexual, not George as many believed (he was simply a transvestite).

He was just a zippy. One of a kind thing with a zip for a gob.

A rather comedic version of a hippo IMHO. Love Zippy I have to say. :)

Think he was meant to be a bear with a zip for a mouth - ideal if man were born with the same thing!

It is one of the greatest mysteries. Not even the creator really knows what he is!
