The Fray sings the song -- it's called How to Save a Life.

I think it's the song "Streetcorner" by Rob Thomas if it's the same ad I'm thinking of.
(the lyrics are something like "Come on over - Come down to the corner my sisters and my brothers of every different color")
It's on his "Something to Be" album - great song
