Well usually, it's a program that is there to support smokers in ther attempt to stop smoking. Usually, there is a lot of documentation provided to explain to the smoker all the bad effects of the cigarette and the danger for health.

Some program has a kind of telephone support service, that you can call if you think you won't make the next hour without having a cigarette, ppl on the other side are there to cheer you up, to try to convince you not to fall back.

Sometimes it's a group thing, if you try to acheive something difficult as part of a group, the group will help you acheive you goal, cause you are all going through the same thing.

Like everyone else says, it's a support programme to help you stop smoking.

If you live in England, there's been a really big drive on helping people with this over the past few years as a result of government targets. Try contacting your local PCT (in the Yellow Pages), or call 0800 169 0 169.
