I wish there was a way to eliminate dust. That would make life a little easier. I've found that using Pledge does help. You don't have to dust as often when you use it.

I don't think you can. I can tell you how I combat dust at my house though. I started putting the little round brush attachment on my vacuum cleaner and I vacuum the dust off of the furniture, television, stereo, lamp shades, books, etc... It's really not that much more trouble than using a feather duster. Those feather dusters just kind of send the dust into the air and it lands back on everything later. With the vacuum, it's gone. New dust has to find it's way into the house, the old dust is in the bag. I bought a canister vacuum. It's much easier to reach the tops of things than with an upright. Canister vacs are also do a better job than uprights.

You'll never be able to get all the dust out of the house. There are two things you can do that are pretty effective but are VERY expensive: (1) Have a professional clean out your heating/air conditioning ducts, and (2) Get a Sharper Image Ionic Breeze fan or two. Other than that, you'll have to dust as often as necessary.

I don't think you can prevent dust settling; but you can remove the vents and attach cheesecloth to the bottoms (I used clear
packing tape). It cuts down on the dust a lot.
