hi, perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus and protect your PC. but you need to pay for the software

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

Best Wishes && Good Luck!

Get AVG antivirus, the free version, get Adaware SE the free version and get Spybot search and destroy. Install them, update them and then let each one scan, not at the same time. Also, how much space is left on your C: drive? How many programs are in the system tray running in the background? How much RAM do you have? You may be running a heap of programs in the system tray sucking heavily away at your RAM. What is in the startup menu? If you have a calendar that starts up every time you start up leave it there but get anything else off the startup menu, found in START>PROGRAMS>STARTUP. You can delete things off this list without deleting them off your system. To me they take just as slow to start up as if they were just being started from the program menu, so it is a waste of space and makes for a lengthy startup,so get rid of anything that you do not need on the startup menu and the system tray. Before using msconfig go into each program on the system tray and tell it not to sit in the system tray, but failing that, go to START>RUN and type msconfig and hit enter. A box will come up. Click the startup tab and there may be a box that says hide all Microsoft products, tick that. Then look at what's left, don't recognise it, leave it alone, recognise it and want it off the startup then untick it, you can always go back and tick it if it turns out you need it. Then restart your system and when a box comes up click don't show this box again. Yes defrag by all means but the more often you do this, like more than once a month, the faster you wear out you hard drive. Make use of the disk clean up facility. You can defrag just the start menu, in case there are startup files that have become fragmented. You can do this by going to START>RUN and typing defrag c: -b and hit enter, a black dos box will come up, leave it there, it will go away when the defragmenting is done.
Well I hope all this works. A sudden slow down generally means either spyware or trojan, treatable so don't panic.

I had the same problem a couple of days ago, and I used the 'SE Ad-Aware SE Personal or Avasti Antivirus. These are both good programs. It seems lately that where ever I look on the internet, there is a hidden ad ware program attached to the site. Both programs are free for home users.

Here's a good choice and it's FREE.

Go to www.download.com

Download and install AVG Anti-virus (Free version)

If your PC was running okay and got slower and slower it may be a disk fragmentation problem. Fragmentation happens "naturally" with the use of your PC. A way to combat the fragmentation issue is to run defrag on a regular basis (once a week minimum).

Assuming you have Windows as an OS:

Click on Start > then on Programs > then on Accessories > then on System Tools > then on System Defrag
Run the defrag utility.

Another utility you can run that will help and it's in the same menu list as defrag, is Disk Cleanup

Hope this helps.

The best option will be to back up you data in the system drive and re-install your operating system (I suppose window). You may also like to format the system drive. This will make things even better,

Regarding the antivirus part, there are various options. Just put search string antivirus in any search engine and you will get hundreds of options. Some are even free like AVG.

Moving slow may not be virus, it could well be spyware or some files corrupted in your pc.

Anyway

spybot search and destroy and spyware blaster are both good freeware!! (you can search it from www.google.com)

p.s., I don't know why someone pasted so long answer (to me that is nonsense)
