sounds like your tranny is stuck...check for tranny fluid (if you have an automatic) immediately...

if it is a manual transmission it could be the pressure plate or clutch in general not engaging...time for a mechanic/shop either way!

Sorry to tell you this your transmission has an internal problem the flashing light shows a code has been stored in the Powertrain computer. Either use a transmission shop or ford dealer. When Low reverse brake fails or planetary gear fails do not drive tow it to the shop rear wheels up. Waited to long to trade in this trucklet. About a $1500 to $2000 out of wallet

hi there ,first start your engine and open the hood and check the fluid level on the transmission dipstick if it is low then fill it one quart at a time so that you do not overfill,if you do have sufficient fluid then with some fluidon the dipstick check the fluid for foreign matter in the oil by raising the dipstick so that the daylight can be behind you ,observe the oil on the dipstick it should be red and clear with a scent similar to a fresh bottle of dextron 111 transmission fluid, what you are looking for is any metallic look in the oil similar to the paint that is metallic in color ,the rays of the sun would reflect that if you do have the metallic particles in your oil you may need to take it to a professional to have it checked out, your problems are internal,if you opt to use a replacment transmission you can use up to the 1999 year model, good luck delmy

your problem sounds like a shift solenoid which is an external component and not that hard to change. The flashing o.d. light may be a give-away sign though. I have friends in the service dept. of a ford dealer and I'll give a call when they open, look for an updated answer in an hour

The best thing is to take it to a professional to have it check out, because any one could tell you the what is problem but not how to fix it,at least no without making you spend a serious amount of money, hope this helps good luck!
