Those of you that have your people down there,what is the best calling card I can get in Cali to call JA? Or have any other ideas?

We've tried several and don't find any that I can tell you is "the best" card. We always look for cards with no connection fees. Most cards charge a daily fee so if you use it today and talk for like an hour, by the time you call again next week you'll most likely be out of minutes. So to get full benefit, we call everybody with one card on the same day. When we do, a $5 card yields about 3-4 hours. We spend a full day talking to family and friends.
The only name that really stands out right now is Sunrise Card. It's yellow, if I remember correctly it's round (like a sun) and has like orange streaks. We buy it from the middle-eastern guys at the gas station.
I don't know if the distance has something to do with how many minutes can you talk for. We call from FL to Kingston. In your case, you're calling from California so I wouldn't be suprised if it's more expensive for you than it is for us.

I have tried many phone cards, some of them charged a fee even if there was no answer or the line was busy. Some kept cutting the call off. The best one I found after many trial is the Sprint PrePaid Card. I got it about 4 years ago from Costco for $20. You can recharge it and I have used the same one ever since I got it. I would never use a different one again.

check out the asian stores they have the best phone cards to call jamaica, I live in germany and the best cards are from the Pakistani store.

In the long run it might be less expensive to get them a computer and Internet access. Then you can video chat everyday if you like.

i suggest that u go to ur bed put ur head on ur pillow n close ur eyes n sleep .u know imagination is the easiest n the cheap est way.
