I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND SALT WATER HAS ALOT OF BACTERIA IN IT, THATS WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER GO SWIMMING IN IT IF YOU HAVE A SORE CAUSE IT CAN GET INFECTED, YOU SHOULD GO TO THE DOCTOR AND GET CHECKED OUT, YOU MAY HAVE A STRAIN OF BACTERIA GROWING INSIDE YOUR EAR

Yes it's possible. "Otitis Externa" is the medical name for "swimmer's ear." They make over the counter ear drops for that. It is more likely to be swimmer's ear if your ear hurts when you bump it or pull on it or if it is itchy as well as painful. Probably, though, most of your symptoms are not from your ears, per se, but rather from your Eustachian tube -- the drainage tube that connects the middle ear to the top of the throat/back of the nose. When your nose gets plugged, the Eustachian tube cannot drain and all the air and water in the middle ear just pile up causing a lot of pressure. The best treatment is to get the nose drained. Options include Afrin nose spray, a decongestant, combined with saline nose spray, to loosen the sticky mucous. You could take over the counter cold or allergy pills, but they all have some side effects. You should call your doctor, though, if you start running a fever, breaking out in sweats, gets confused or tipsy.

if left alone it could damage your hearing why live with pain

And inner and outer ear infection together can cause that much pain including a high fever too.. Go see your Dr. if it is not getting any better
