Hi Ruby
The first thing I wanna tell you that you are 19 and you are in a very pretty stage of life. Well, about weightloss, I am glad to see that you have already taken the first step towards it - realizing that you need to lose weight.
Secondly, weightloss is something that does not happen overnight but it is a total change of lifestyle.
Just like everyone I am gonna tell you that it comes with diet and exercise but its not just about that. I think it starts with accepting little changes like organizing yourself.
Heres somethings I do to keep myself active and to keep my activity and weight loss regular:
I changed my room decor and wrote inspiring quotes on the wall paper and stuff about going on.
What you probably need if you havent been working out until now is a lot of cardio exercise. So find ways to go running, cycling, jogging, dancing.
Join a dance class - that'll help you
or start playing some sport.
when u are home watching tv march on the spot.
Tie your workout around things you enjoy doing.
set miniature goals eg: I will los these many pounds this month,
eat sensibly
eat more salads.
give up coffee, tea because these things really hinder weight loss
I wont advice you to buy a gadget like a belt or something because nothing can replace hardwork, just like you have to study yourself to pass an exam you have to work hard to lose weight by yourself, these are just my personal informal opinions.
also, remember who you are deep inside. meditate and build your inner strength and gear yourself to run, walk, dance and dance like no one is watching you.
and you'll start seeing it working
Importantly, remember you might breakdown at times but gear yourself to walk again.
Good luck

First, 83 kg is not that bad..... Second, 28 kg is an impossible goal... Generally, for your height a goal of 70 kg is adequate... As for losing weight.... there is no magic answer except diet and exercise.. As for dieting.... I mean sensible good meals 4 to 6 times per day.... Balanced with all the food groups etc.... Exercise in circuits... Tone one day, cardio another etc.... But don't over do.. Make it fun and real or it will never work...

Your current BMI is about 31, which is classed as being obese, if you lose the weight you want to then it would reduce to about 20 which would put you at a perfect normal weight for your height.
My recommendation is to firstly go and get yourself checked out at the Dr's for an underlying cause for your weight gain, and then I would recommend eating more low GI foods.
GI stands for Glycaemic Index. They fill you up for longer. Examples could be...
Apples, oranges, pears, peaches, beans and lentils, durum wheat pasta, sweet potato, sweetcorn, porridge, noodles or wholegrain cereals.
Here's a good link http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/diet/gi_diet.htm
And remember the golden rule is...
Consume less calories than you burn
~or~
Burn more calories than you consume
I sometimes think it's more rewarding to measure yourself in inch loss rather than weight loss, and remember you're more likely to lose weight and keep it off if you lose the weight slowly.
Lose weight too quickly and your body can think that there's a food shortage and when you start eating more normally it will convert any left-over calories to fat as a survival technique. Also depriving yourself of all the foods you love will not work either, it will feel like a punishment, and when you reach your target weight it will be all to easy to put it all back on.
Some people find that losing weight with a group of other people is helpful, if so then my friend lost her fertility treatment weight through Weight-Watchers, she highly recommends them.
Good luck hon - I know you can do it!!!

hi there !
dont think about reducing 28 kilos
overnight..ok ?
but never think that it as "impossible"...because...there are so many people whom I know who has made it "possible"!
Contact a good Diatician...from a good hospital...because they are very good at advising the exact calories etc..she will help you in formulating a ideal diet for "you" !
start with that ...
then find 2-3 hours per day..preferably early morning...for the best/comfortable way of exercise for you..
I would advise you to go for brisk walking for 45 minutes in the early morning with some elders...to start with...after few weeks, when the stamina increases for the legs and body, other more aggressive ways of exercises could be adopted..ok ?
But the exercise should be regular and stick on to the diet advised...be serious about it..
do NOT starve....
good luck...it is POSSIBLE.dont worry..
