linux machine - problem with mouse?

i have installed mandrake linux 6.2 recently.at the time of installation,the mouse worked properly.after installing Linux, i found that the mouse is not working. what may be the problem? what will be its solution?

Install a newer version of linux. And if not possible then install the same one again. It should work

Why 6.2? After 10.2 we went to 2005 & then 2006.
