An e-mail account? Almost the only way is by court order. Even surviving spouses of holders of AOL and similar e-mail accounts have been rebuffed. To the extent that the account is "property" a probate judge can be asked to issue an order.

Or you can try to guess; there are computer algorithms for that. I recall one case where a guy died, and somebody suggested they try reversing his name as a password and it worked. Lots of people use pets' names, birthdays, childhood telephone numbers, etc.

Usually, when you register an email account they ask for a secret question and an answer, it's kinda reminder for you in case you forget your password. Just follow the instructions of email provider about "forgotten password". Good luck

Usually if you have forgotten your password for an email account, there is an option to click on to be reminded of the password.

Sometimes you have to answer a security question as well.

If you lost the password for YOUR email, contact the ISP and they will ask you questions to prove you are you. If you are asking how to get into someone else's email--you should have a police warrent.

Depends whose email it is,..... if it's yours there's ways to retrieve it,.. if it's not; then why are you doing it? It's a password for a reason,.. if it's yours,. there's a way; if not,. leave it alone.
Hope this points your question in the right direction.
