I find it really irritating to be honest, because I get it too much. When I was in the US, I became really annoyed with it, but I appreciate that Americans are more likely to compliment people than other places, so I should have been more tolerant.

When my husband calls and opens with, "hi, beautiful" is about the only time it makes me feel good.

Normally just get pretty but I'd take it as a compliment maybe be a bit flustered if if was a guy I was interested in telling me but consider it a good thing in any case.
