A traditional muscle car would be a large V8 stuffed into a two door intermediate-sized rear wheel drive car - and that's intermediate size for the 1960's. Classic examples would be the Chevy Chevelle SS, Pontiac GTO, and Dodge Charger.

Other cars with comparable performance may not be considered muscle cars by collectors because they don't meet that definition. For example, the Mustang and Camaro are smaller and considered pony cars.

musle cars are generally older vehicles made when nobody cared about gas prices
the power to weight ratios were something to behold
sitting behind the wheel of a car whose engine rumbled like thunder gave awonderful almost orgasmic sensation
when you revved it up and dumped the clutch smoking the tires and sounding like a nascar racer was a beautiful thing
look on the net for muscle cars, street rods, hot rods etc and view the images
'cudas, vettes, camaros, road runners etc were some examples
hoe about a 69 mustang gt with a 428 cobra jet engine ?
todays cars are ok i guess for some
but once you get behind the wheel of rolling thunder you will never forget what a true muscle car is

If you have been reading the latest in Car magazines - you will learn that Muscle Cars is a relatively new term for what we use to call Detroit Steel.

They refer to cars from about 1968 - and up -- that were "all-American" - like your Camaro, Mustang, and the top of the pile - Corvette.
