with me it takes awhile depending on what got me riled up in the first place.
I will either talk to someone about it to get it off my chest that usually helps the best.. or i will get my mind on something else to distract me of the thing that got me riled up.
Sometimes exercise helps too to relieve the stress.

I get away from the computer, turn the phone off, turn on some music and go draw or do a fun project. When I can't do those I merely remove myself from the situation, TOTALLY.

Speed bag or the floor dummy... Some times I'll beat on the floor dummy until I cant move my arms and legs!

Watch the clouds go by in the sky. However this doesn't work if I'm indoors so I just say "R U NUTS!" translated in work language as "WHAT!", then I feel so much better. (^.^)
