It seems the right thing to do given the millions that perished in the slave trade.

Of course you are on the side of justice and i agree with humanist and very much disagree with the negative responses.
In my opinion time doesn't change the wrongs of the past and black people should get compensation and are still very much discriminated against.
You have my apology for what it's worth.I'm sorry for what my people did before and that some still want to do today.

The Africans have no lobby and no voice. The Bush junta is more than happy, even giddy, to stand up for the "rights" of the Jews for reparations. In a way it is their calling, because Prescott Bush was involved in heavy dealings with the Nazis. His dealings and the deals he enabled with the Schlesian Steelworks owned by his buddy Halliman, resulted in the construction of the railway tracks leading to Auschwitz. The Bush family was actively involved in enabling the murder of millions of Jews. The Jews never forgot about that and will not fail to remind the Bush clique that they are indebted to the Jews.

Now, do you still ask yourself why the blacks don't get anything, but the Jews get everything?

That's why. The holocaust SURVIVORS are getting the reparations. The SURVIVORS are the ones that suffered and the ones getting paid. THE ACTUAL SURVIVORS. NOT THE NEXT GENERATION OR A GENERATION IN THE FUTURE BUT THE ACTUAL PERSON THAT DID THE SUFFERING!!!!! The actual survivors are getting reparations for the holocaust. NOT THEIR CHILDREN OR THEIR CHILDREN'S CHILDREN BUT THE ACTUAL SURVIVORS. Do you understand, yet? It is the actual SURVIVORS that are getting the reparations. If you do not understand this, you may try another question regarding this matter later on and if I see it, I will attempt to answer it again.

Very very few actual holocaust survivors have ever received any of the money collected in their names. In fact, many of the very few of them still living live in poverty in Israel. The over riding fact is that 6 million Jews allowed themselves to be deprived of their freedom and property and marched into gas chambers when they actually knew what was happening. They have the ultimate responsibility for this.

350,000 northern Americans set an example by dying in a war to correct a slavery issue that was created, implemented, and commercialized by England and Spain. If they had not died in that war, slavery would very possibly still exist in most of the world. Millions of Africans allowed themselves to be in-slaved but they were not the only race forced into slavery. 8 million Irish people died in the feudal slavery system established by the English in their country and many Irish people were sold as slaves in the Caribbean and South Pacific.

It is more likely that descendants of the men who fought and died freeing the slaves in the U.S. are owed a thank you and some form of reward by Africans worldwide. The Irish, who arrived in the U.S. to signs saying, "Irish Not Allowed" and "Irish Need Not Apply", have accepted responsibility for what happened to them, moved on, and flourished.

I have a great great Uncle that was killed fighting for the North in the Civil War. He was a ardent abolitionist. Can I get some money from those damn Rebels too? In the 1700's the French along with their Huron allies, burned My Great, Great, Great, Great, Grandfathers farm in Central Pennsylvania during the French and Indian wars. Do I get reparations from the France?

Reparations could go on forever with all of the hateful things we have done to the people of the world. What about the american indians, don't they deserve it as much as anyone? The fact is that none of us who is currently alive did any of these things, though we are still doing other hateful things ie Iraq, Afganistan. I think what we need is equal opportunity and fairness for everyone alive today. We are not doing that so why should we pay for the past.

Clinton sort of apologised for slavery, but unless you can produce someone who was actually a slave - someone over 140 years old - I don't know who is entitled to reparations. Will all US blacks have to trace their family trees, so those not descended from slaves don't get money to which they're not entitled?

With you all the way.. If you had asked this question in the evening you would have had all the bigots giving you a mouthful.. But hey it will never happen. Fact is they are taking over African lands in a more surrepticious way as we speak.
