Why buy a cheap car new? You get what you pay for. A rubbish car from the Far East or Eastern Europe will be rubbish! Go for a Vauxhall around 3 years old. Buy from a "good" area. If the seller has a home worth £250,000 - he probably had the car serviced regularly. If you are going to buy new just to get the credit. just phone up your bank or credit card company and ask about a personal loan. My credit card company offered me £15,000 at around 6% - that's better than a car dealer. My Vectra is 2 litre LS and cost less than 3K - and has never broken down in the 2 years I've had it. But I don't do many miles, you may have to go for an Astra or Corsa - but even the Vectra is OK on petrol if you change gear and use 5Th gear most of the time. I just try to resist the temptation to press the accelerator! Work out the costs. A new car at 10K will lose around 3K a year in depreciation, plus insurance, tax, fuel, MOT, servicing, breakdown cover. That's £3.5K a year. £300 a month and petrol on top! Mine has cost around £80 a month plus petrol. It's never broke down and that includes, insurance and the rest. Big difference! There's a picture of it on my website! lol

You'd be better off with a nearly new Ford Ka. Excellent cars and you can pick em up really cheap. My ex-girlfriend picked a 10 month old one for £3800!
