I have a set of twins myself and my grandmother on my dad's side was one of a set of triplets, my dad's father's sisters were twins and my mother had an aunt and uncle that were twins so I have a bit of knowledge on the subject.
First of all some people are predisposed genetically to have twins....it is hereditary. But only with fraternals, not identicals, and the mother is the factor in that case not the dad's background because what is really hereditary is hyper-ovulation which is the tendency to ovulate more than one egg per month. Two thirds of all twins are fraternal meaning they came from two eggs and two sperm........identicals come from one egg and one sperm that split and that type of twinning is an absolute fluke of nature.
Fertility drugs can cause you to hyper-ovulate which could cause you to have twins or more......but a doctor is not likely to prescribe them to someone that does not need them to actually conceive.
Also, you are more likely to conceive twins if you conceive in the first month after coming off of birth control pills because for some reason the ovaries tend to be in overdrive after being suppressed by birth control.
There are also many other factors including maternal age, number of previous pregnancies, race, etc.
Even with all of those factors lined up in your favor you might still not get a set of twins....it's really all out of your hands.

Increased chances of having twins is either hereditary passed down from mother to daughter (usually fraternal, non identical, twins), happens by chance (usually identical twins), or happens through fertility treatment.
Age also plays a factor and if you're 35 then you have double the chance of having twins compared to a 25 year old.
The only way of increasing your chances would be to do fertility treatment, but I don't know if a clinic would give you fertility treatment purely based on a desire to have twins.

Personally, I don't know of any drugs out there that can increase your chances, but that's just me. Technology advances everyday so you could be in luck! A popular factor is that it is heredity. My sister or I might have twins because our grandma had a twin sister. It might sound goofy, but it's a real factor. Actually, now that I think of it, I do believe there are scientific drugs or what not that can actually make you get twins, triplets, or more!
