Life has a purpose.
Life can not be destroyed. It can only be transcended or transmitted from one body form to another. Spirit (the life itself) is basically undestructible. That is your true nature and the true nature of everyone.
This world is a form of a dream. But you have to live in this world to learn good things, do good things, take lessons and education from your own mistakes and others' mistakes.
While walking one falls down, again one gets up and starts walking ... towards ... the destination.
The destination is where the worldly veil removes itself from your inner or true eyes. It is wisdom. It is true and everlasting happiness. It is what one has come to earth for to realize.
If the world seems like a dream then it is due to this veil.
That causes ignorance, unhappiness, pain, suffering.
Pleasure and pain are two sides of the same coin.
Only true happiness is everlasting.
And it can be realized by an individual by his or her own efforts.
That is the purpose of life. That is the destination.
Where the reality is revealed, happiness becomes pemanent, nature becomes immune to pleasure and pain.
It is not just a game of words, or imagination.
To realize this purpose, the True Life, we all are living, years after years, generations after generations, we are trying, failing sometimes, succeeding other times, trying, ... to reach this destination.
Life is there. Life can not be ignored by mere words or imagination.
Life exists.
Only Life is.

Well, I can tell you don't know much about it.
Yes, various philosophers and mystics have speculated on the "it's not real, it's all illusion" hypothesis for hundreds of years. But it hasn't really gotten them anywhere. All it does is beg the question of what is meant by "reality." As Robin Williams put it, "Reality! What a concept!"
But we live our lives in the minute particulars, as someone wise once said. We do not live it in abstract philosophy, but in the needs of the body and the mind. That abstract philosophy may be one of the needs of the mind, I will not argue, but it is only one.
What is the philosophy of life? As a BA with honors in philosophy, I have concluded that the best standard is enlightened self-interest. Not merely self-interest, but enlightened enough to realize that it is in your self-interest to be a good citizen, a fair dealer, an honorable and courageous person. This space is too small to deal with all my reasons why, but that's what I have concluded, and that's how I have lived ever since I drew that conclusion in the early 1970s.

We can't understand life and our purpose for living until we have perfect understanding of our eternal identity as eternal spirit souls, part of the spiritual energy of the Supreme Lord. Trying to make sense of material life without this understanding is futile. You will inevitably come to the wrong conclusions as you expressed here. Go to the link below and read the Bhagavad-gita As It Is. It will clear up the mysteries of life for you very well.

First of all , maybe you need to see a professional person, sounds like you have some unresolved issues going on in your head.
Philosophy of life? Heavy questionand and one that can't really be answered. The way I see it is there are two guarantees to life, birth and death. How you fill that large gap in between is down to you. So make the most of life while you can. You only have one chance to make a difference and start to be happy. Live for you and no one else.

Dear lovemath2......
Why so down?
Life is truely just a matter of living it until you die.
Live on the edge because otherwise you are taking up to much space I always say.
Enjoy every minute you can and hate every other minute.
I say life is a journey to collect wisdom and that wisdom sets you free.
