Yes it can, and cranberry juice is good for prevention too. But only use unsweetened cranberry juice, and drink plenty of water too, at least 8 large glasses a day.
But if it hasn't cleared up after a day or so then get yourself off to the Doctors, as left untreated it can lead to other more serious problems.
I hope you feel better soon.

Cranberry juice can help if it is the start of something. If you have something for a while, this juice will not be able to deal with it alone. The reason for this is the juice is alkaline and most bacteria and yeast like it on the acidic side for life. The juice can also make a difference in some acid kidney stones.

Many of the symptoms of urinary infection (pain or burning when you pee, or peeing frequently) are caused by having too much acid in the urine. This can happen with or without bacteria being present. Drinking cranberry juice helps reduce the acidity of the urine, therefore reducing the severity of symptoms. You can also take cranberry tablets or drink cranberry tea with the same effect. You don't necessarily need antibiotics but if your symptoms persist, see your doctor.

Yes it will help as will the cranberry tea's . But you must go and see your GP. UTI's in women can be very dangerous in women if not treated very quickly, some uti's can actually stop you from passing urine. This is very dangerous as the bladder can only hold so much beofre it is at risk of rupture and the infection would become far worse. Do not want to frighten you only make it clear you shouldn't take the risk. Hope you feel much better soon.

If you have a mild urinary infection you shouldn't need to get antibiotics. Basically cranberry juice is supposed to help (you can get concentrated cranberry tablets from most pharmacists) but your best bet is simply to drink as much water as you possibly can in order to flush out your system. If you do have a UTI you'll be afraid to pee, but you need to get things moving so drink and pee, drink and pee etc...If it hasn't gone away or got noticeably better in 24 hours, go to the doctor.

Hey brown eyes, dont listen too much to "Literary's" answer, what a load of bull. Drinking cranbery will help, but when you have a UTI you should try and drink plenty fluids anyway, this will flush out the bugs from your bladder and urethra. It will hurt like hell, and will be like peeing glass, but it will help. Take some analgesia too, like paracetamol. It will help pain and reduce any temp that you may have. Take it every four hours as it says on the box. If you aint feeling much better tomorrow, go and see a doctor, you may need antibiotics. To help prevent UTI's coming back remember to drink plenty and dont hold your pee in, if you need to go, GO!

Cranberry juice will ease the pain, drink lots of water to flush yourself out. If you ever see blood in your urine go to doctor as you will need antibiotics as you may have infection. if you have reacurring cystitis you must get it treated by docter as you'll end up with kidney infection like me and it's not pleasent.
