or, why you never got selected for an interview. I worked for a company for 1 week then due to an accident i was off sick for a week, i decided to leave and give someone else the chance of the job as i had to recover from my accident. I left in good faith untill it came to get sick pay, i ended up having to sort it out myself and write to them telling them of the correct amount due to me before i got it back. I have applied for a job with them again and so far i have heard nothing. So can i ask them why i never got selected for an interview or the chance of getting my job back?

There was a case reported - in Tuesday's edition of the Glasgow Evening Times were - a " person who was not white " took Partick Housing Association to an industrial tribunal - to
ask why he never got an interview for a position he had applied to them for. They found in his favour and awarded him £500 compensation.. For not being told fully why he was not selected for an interview. If you want satisfaction, and can be bothered with the hassle ..contact a Solicitor. Good Luck.

You are definitely entitled to ask, but the company is not bound by any law to give you an answer. More than likely the response you will get will be one of two standard answers.

1) You do not meet the requirements we are hiring for at this time.
2) We have decided on a more qualified candidate.

ask and it shall be given!

what ever means you ask them letter, e-mail or by phone I'm sure you will get one of the following answer:

a. "Unfortunately, we do not have any vacancy at the moment. We will keep your CV/resume' on file should a position arise in the future."

b. "Your credentials are commendable however we have other applicants with qualifications that matches our requirement/s."

c. "Due to the large response we are getting from the job posted, we will be contacting applicants who were short listed. Unfortunately, you were not successful on this occassion."

The moral of the story is... keep on trying!!! it does not matter how many times your application was turn-down, rejected, failed or what ever you call it. The important thing is... you only need to secure one job and how you handle and do well with your job to become successful is what matters!

good luck!
