I always do and expect the same curtesy. It takes nothing to show manners and respect for someone, especially some you love! After 5 years of marriage it still is very important to me and will continue to be so.

Yes, gratitude and appreciation should mostly be given to the person you love and feel close to other wise you are taking them for granted.

If they don't understand English or speak another language, then you need to say the equivalent of "thank you" and "I appreciate and love you very much" in the language they will comprehend and will make them smile and feel special!

If I have a person I truly love and feel close to, I'll say "Thank you" and "I love you" with all my heart with extreme generosity.

You bet! Plus it's a habit with everyone I come in contact with that does something for me. I was brought up that way and haven't put it aside.
I thank the mailman,butcher,baker,cashier person,clerks of all kinds,waiter,waitress,salesperson,etc. You name it!

If someone does me a flavor or gives me a gift (birthday)
then yes, a thank you and sometimes a hug is in order.

Of course. Many times each day. And sometimes I thank them just for being there or for loving me or for being my friend.

I say thank you to All ,that treat me well.
Its called respect coupled with manners .
I was brought up Old school.
I thank my parents for that .

You may love and feel close to them, but they won't love and feel close to you if you don't let them know how much they are appreciated.
