He is a great player playing for a league team. When he wears the national shirt, like many, many Argentinian players, he becomes a choker, just passing the ball 10 yards to his left or 10 yards to his right.

I like Aimar better, but Riquelme is a great player, I believe he was the closest Argentine to reach beckham's free kick abilities.

Riquelme is a great player, but just like Veron, is very unpredictable when playing national team matches. D'Alessandro, Aimar and others will benefit from him retiring.

Yes! I hope he changes his mind about retiring, but it looks like he's sticking to quitting. I can't believe it, he's young, he's a great player, I thought he would stay on the Argentine for a long time to come. I hope he can go back on this decision, I think he's making it out of frustration from all the criticism he's received for Pekerman's bad managing. Argentina needs him, I hope they realize this.

Yes!! Why did he retire?? This is SAD! I wish he wouldn't. He's only what? 28? He has at least 7 more years! =[
At least he's still playing for Villarreal. This is dissapointing to hear he's retiring from international play.

As I mentioned previously, he has got plenty to offer to Argentina. He is one of their most talented players. It will be sad to see him leave so early.
