The u.k. government is again thinking of increasing the price of drink ,with the hope that it will cut down on underage drinking.
Surely this is not the solution, to me, its just another excuse to bring in more revenue.
There has been countless price increases with tobacco prices which, just increased the amount of illegal imports so, will the same apply to drink.
This government always thinks (wrongly) that to up the price of everything gets rid of the problems are they misguided or what ?

You are so right, the only person that will benefit from increases in the cost of tobacco and alcohol are the revenue, there are people out there that are addicted to tobacco and alcohol and increasing the prices will only make the situation worse, they really should consider lowering the prices of both!

Yes stick the price right up, but only for those that live in the South East, you know, the ones that can jump on a train or ferry and go over to France where booze is really cheap. For the rest of us, the ones that don"t really matter, reduce the cost by 50%. we"ve nothing else to live for but to get pissed. Make taxes much easier to swallow.

They should cancel the free bar that they have at the house of commons and put that money (and I've heard it's a LOT) into extracurricular activities for the kids, I don't mean crap stuff either - they should be able to have like field bikes and quads and swimming pools at schools, whatever the kids want, computer rooms, etc. But our govt is selfish, so they won't...

It's a total crock!
If they wanted to stop underage drinking, they'd out law the drink itself.
Government is always looking for ways to suck the money out of people, this doesn't surprise me at all!

I don't think that will solve the problem. If anything, making something harder to obtain legally only increases it's use on the black market.

PLease noooo.........
I can only afford to go out 2 afternoons a week when my good friend picks me up in his car for a couple of hours in the pub.
I like my few pints and chat with friends.
Can`t we have a reduction in beer? now that would be nice :-) :-)
