Let him come to you. It would be a show of commitment from him. Being together in person is usually different from chatting on line so do not expect too much; for everything to be perfect.
Depending on what kind of man he is, if your parents feel he is a good man who would be good for you then they will probabaly approve of him despite the way you met.
