Most good professional make up artists will want to do at least one practice session, to make sure you are happy with the make up and have no alergic reaction to any of the products they use.
The will also want to see the wedding outfit and have some idea of the colour scheme for flowers/bridesmaid etc, as they might want to pick this colour up in you eye make up.
Most brides opt for a soft natural look for their wedding day.
Check out other make up artists and make sure you have that trial run before the BIG DAY.
If you can afford it, its worth being pampered and preparred, it will just make you feel more like a princess and very special.
Good luck

I would take a lesson(s) and practice before the big day. I'm not sure where but if you go to the mall, some big department store should have a make-up booth/artist. You can ask her. Then I'd try out different products and practice everyday or a few hours a day until you find something you like. I admit a professional make up artist is expensive and only worth it if you absolutely don't want to do it yourself.

I had my bridal make up done at Debenhams at the Estee Lauder counter. I had a consultation a few weeks before and we decided on what colours to use, and then I went on the morning of the wedding. It was free of charge but I did treat myself to some make up for touch ups during the day. To be honest, it was nice to get out of the house and away from the mayhem and meant that myself and my matron of honour had some quality girly time too.

I went to 'Debs' to get a makeover for my wedding day. I had an hour with the lady and it was fine.
I got a demo card with all the colours she used and where on the face they were so that I could buy the products and use them
myself in future!
Little did they know that I wasn't going to buy them and that was my wedding day, wrong I know but I was mega skint at the time.
I got home and looked in the mirror and was appalled! I was a totally different colour around the face than I was anywhere else on my body, including my neck and I looked well over-worked!
I wondered why none of my colleagues from work recognised me in the street on the way home, ( I saw 3 of them).
I had to wash the whole lot off and do it all myself again.
I went for naturally radient look and used as little as possible and it was much better.
So much for the professionals.
Serves me right for being a skinflint I know!

I run a wedding car company and have spoken to hundreds of brides. My advise is not to do it yourself you will have enough to do and think ( worry ) about on your day. Go to a local wedding exhibition and find local make up artists in your local area, get two or three quotes for comparison and then ask what discounts are available. Make sure you know what is included in the price. which leaves me only to say, Congratulations and have a wonderful time. You dictate to them not the other way around... It's your day and you are paying for the service.

The wedding day is your day and dont waste it by making your makeup and later keep guessing wether others like it or not, and why do you want to stress yourself on the day which is special and wont repeat again.
Just pay and ask the professional to arrange your makeup so that he/she will know what exactly will make you look beautiful and be the centre of attraction for the day.

it's up to you,but personally I would do it myself because I am quite good at my make-up, so here are a few tips:
*Get white eyeshadow and apply to eyelids
*then, grab a gold glimmerstick for eyes and apply on top of eyelashes and finish your eyelids by brushing them (softly) with an eye shadow brush
*now, grap a lipliner and use it on ur lips, then apply a matching lipstick with a little touch of gloss to finish your lips
*now, grab your favourite foundation with a face sponge and apply to cheeks and apply a soft blusher to the face.
*Now,with your eyelashes, apply a very good quality mascara, or apply false eyelashes..
*then, have a manicure and paint your nails (dont forget the base coat and top coat).
*For the finishing touch, apply some lovely perfume..
**For hair ideas, go on www.thehairstyler.com there are bridal hairstyles for all hair and color types.... I hope this helps! PS. have a lovely day.

Are you getting a make-up artist or have you tried a hair salon who keeps them on staff? Usually the salon women are much cheaper. DON'T DO IT YOURSELF. You've paid for everything else to look beautiful, you deserve to be beautiful. Trust me, it won't matter after it's all over. Not once have I looked back on my wedding and though, "I shouldn't have spent so much.". This is your most special day. Go for it!!
