Hi,

I'm a sociology student at the University of Tasmania (Australia) and am trying to find people who have been to raves (anywhere in the world) and have experienced any form of spiritual enlightenment / healing / development.

I would also appreciate the comments of anyone who has been to a rave and believed it to be just mindless escapism.

Any comments would be great.

Have you been to a rave and gained nothing from it?
Have you been to a rave and experienced self enlightenment?

If you did experience self enlightenment, did you use Ecstacy, or other drugs to achieve it, or was it a result of an absorbtion into the music (or something else).

Any comment will be kept anonomous - and will only be used to back up my arguments.

Thanks for your help

sure Ive been to heaps of them. Ive been straight and under the influence and enjoyed both forms of the experience.

I love the music, the energy and the release that comes about from going to a rave. A rave imo is many things to many people, for some it's a pickup joint, for others it's about anonymity on the dance floor, freedom of expression without societal pressures to conform and of course having a good time.

In it's purest form you have no past or future and are just living in the moment and enjoying the music and the feeling. Admittedly this is under the influence of whatever...is this religious? I don't know maybe you have profound moments but they dint last. I think that it's a great way to release pent up tension from work, school, troubles at home etc etc because everyone is there to have a good time.

yes i have. i was one of a handful of people out of thousands who were not on something. it was ugly and sweaty and hot! I loved the music though. People were all touching each other and stroking each others hair..

its was enlightening... it reinforced the fact that i dont like drugs and i think people look daft when they are high.
