If you want to work in a technical department then it is not going to help much, maybe only if your have to look after a budget for a technical department.

don' worry about the company, department.

In every place you will learn atleast onething what to do?. what not to do? So with that you should try to enrich your capability in all subjects.

Then another question is the necessity for the job which you are presently working. If you have some compelling situations to continue the work , prepare your mind to accept the works without worrying about future/your career.

as far as i'm concerned, any and all experience is valid towards another job. it shows flexibility, ability to adjust and learn, self-motivation to the job. the same thing happened to me, so everything i did and learned went on my resume.
