This is how they work:

First they make up lies to put you on the defense.

Example, saying that the Iranian president has said he wants to make nuclear weapons. (not true, he said as a member of the NPT he has a right to develop nuclear energy)

Then when you do the right thing and correct them because you can't have an honest debate when one side isn't even using true facts, they call democrats terrorists sympathizers or anti-american, etc... which is more lies.... and you are more on the defense. The entire argument gets lost and is perfect for them because they really don't have an argument.

The end result is never even getting to the real issues.

See how it works?

I live in Australia, and until I started using Yahoo answers I had no idea how awful the political discourse in the USA had become.

It is DEFINITELY the Republican strategy. I see it many times a day on this site. And then they have the nerve to say that you get your information from CNN! No, I get the information right from the horses mouth.

It is a vicious and low strategy. Ironic too, since the current administration is responsible for encouraging more new recruits to the jihadists cause then any previous administration. So in a very real sense it is THEY who are pro-terrorist.

The USA is totally f-ed. I am SO GLAD I do not live there.

Of course that is a strategy of the neo-cons. Demonizing the opponent is the easiest, cheapest and most mean strategy that can be driven.

For example, take Rick Santorums(R) campaign for Senate. He falsely portrayed Sen. Cleland(D) as a traitor, a coward and a friend of Osama bin Laden. Sen. Cleland lost both legs and one arm in Vietnam, while Rick Santorum never even served.

The tactics the neocons deploy belong to the most deplorable, disgusting and despicable ever devised. I would be insulted to be in the same room with a vile pig like Rick Santorum.

Here's a good true story that compares the way the Republicans operate to the way Thailand's ruling Thai Rak Thai party works.

Thai Prime Minister Thaksin (head of Thai Rak Thai) recently promised to give away cows and land deeds to farmers in the northeast (who are - like conservatives the world over - generally less educated than the rest of the population). Of course, he couldn't legally do that, not even in Thailand (unlike America, where you can't buy votes, you can only SELL them to the highest corporate bidder). Well, anyway, next day the opposition (called the Democrat Party in Thailand, notice the similarity) said "Hell no, you can't do that."

So Thaksin gets the press around him (lapdogs, just like U.S.) and says "I wanted to give away cows and land, but the DEMOCRATS (bastards) wouldn't let me."

Well, now every farmer in the northeast is co-miserating with his neighbor as they plant their rice fields: "Thaksin wanted to give us cows and land, but those damn DEMOCRATS won't let him."

You see as a piece of bald-faced political propaganda, you sort of have to admire it. I mean, Thaksin energizes his base and sticks it to the opposition without ever really having to do anything that will get him in trouble.

But is this democracy? No, it's the BIG LIE. The masters of the big lie in America are Republicans.

demos are not pro terror. they are more flexible than reps. and neocons. they hanker for peace and stability. Our image has been tarnished with all that has been happening throughout the last 8 years ... so I guess it is time for democrats to take over , in order to revamp our image and strike a balance of power both in the middle east and in Asia.

That's how I took it ... and I'm sure the White supremacy groups took notice when the "... like Nazi Sympathizers" statement was made. And don't forget the "Islamic Fascist" statement that pissed off the Muslims too. Gee, I guess we're ALL TERRORISTS which is why ALL of OUR PHONES ARE TAPPED!

Whenever there is a combative setup - one side will always demonise the other.

America should get out of the two party system and allow some fresh air into their governments.

By saying that, the Republicans are trying to help out the Dems, by giving them a definite stance on SOMETHING for once lately.
