According to biology, 14 days after conception the baby is a living organism and not a cell. Soul is not a scientific concept. An unborn baby of course has one, it is a matter of definition. What, he suddenly gets one after 9 months? Many of them get born at 7 months, don't they have a soul for the next 2? A few months before that they are still babies who can survive if they are not killed. Of course abortion is killing, what does the status of their parents has to do with it?

Science may one day be able to tell us when *conciousness* appears in a developing fetus, but the concept of a soul is a spiritual one, and is therefore outside of the scope of science.
Importantly, this does NOT mean (as some of the other posters are saying) that science "assumes" that because it cannot prove a soul, a soul must not exist. This is a misconception of the process and mindset behind science. Science does not presume to define the existence of something that it can not prove or disprove.
This is similar to the existence of God: the existence of God is outside the scope of science, because His existence cannot be proven or disproven with the scientific method. That does not mean scientists then assume God doesn't exist: it simply means that their *explanation of data* does not rely on the existence of a diety.
As for abortion, it does "kill the baby" in the sense that once it is performed, the developing embryo or fetus will no longer be viable. As for whether abortion is murder, and at what point during fetal development it becomes unacceptable, that is a very personal matter. Some people believe that it is murder as soon as the sperm meets the egg, others (very few, really) think that an abortion can ethically take place up until birth. This is something that you will have to decide for yourself, using whatever code of ethics is important to you.

The short answer: "At 24 weeks the cortex is still not
functional" (see source below)
The long answer: This is very difficult. The scientific concept that comes closest to the spiritual concept of "soul" is probably "conscousness", but very little is known about how much gray matter is needed for a phetus, an animal or maybe even a computer to be "conscious". Some scientists would say that even insects are conscious, some would say that humans only became conscious with the emergence of the first civilizations some 8000 years ago, most would vote for somewhere in between. Needless to say, consciousness of a phetus is equally controversial.

Science can not determine that! You can't see a soul while the child develops! So technically according to science it doesn't exist! As far as Christian religions God does not like taking the life of another. If you are in a war and you are defending yourself ok. If you have an abortion your killing the child! You have just takin the life of a child! even if the child wasn't able to speak or wasn't even born yet! it is still a living thing! Abortion takes the life of the child! So if you have an abortion you have just killed your baby! Plain and simple! Just be very careful with that! If you physically can't take care of the child, put it up for adoption or have a family member take care of the child!

According to science, the answer is "never". Science has never demonstrated the existence of the soul, because it is purely a spiritual concept.
You cannot see a soul, cannot measure it, cannot identify which bit of the body it lives in. With no evidence to support the idea that the soul exists, science assumes that it does not.

When I develop one, I'll let you know.
It's a meaningless question in practical terms, there's no way to measure the presence of a "soul" or prove that any such thing exists.

If that soul was meant to be on earth, that soul WILL come through, whether its this pregnany or the next one. What's supposed to happen WILL happen.
