you will need to use a canasten treatment. It is an antifungal treatment available in a one, three, day or 6 day course. You can get cream or pessaries or both if you have particulary external and internal symtoms of thrush. It is not reccommended that use use the aplicators with these products while pregnant, though this is stictly an anatomical reason. Canasten is perfectly safe in pregnancy and you'll get relief about a day after commencing treatment.

Ask your pharmacist what's the best thing to use to treat your thrush. I had a coldsore when I was pregnant and was told in no uncertain terms that because zovirax hadn't been tested on pregnant women, it wasn't advisable to use it! Your pharmacist will tell you what's best. And you might even speak to your midwife about the causes and treatment of thrush. Congratulations and good luck!

if you know for sure that this is what you have and it happens alot in pregnant women then i would just be asking the question what do you take when pregnant to get rid of the thrush without any risks to the baby, if you sort it out before hand then this will not be an issue, she may need to take a swab from you but im not sure.

No i very much doubt it I'm 19 weeks pregnant and have the same problem. My midwife just gave me a prescription. Canestan cream is perfectly fine to use and my god does it help !!! for the time being if it flares up put a cold flannel "down there" until it calms down, (because the Bacteria thrives on heat so do what you can to keep "down there" cool.

Hey you have to tell your midwife if you wont to stay healthy and have a healthy baby. Don`t be afraid anything that makes you feel uncomfortable during your pregnancy you have to tell your midwife. It`s for your own good. Take care .

She will have to check that the baby and yourself are fine.
Tell her your worries and any concerns that you have.
If it really is that pain fall get in touch with your doctors for advise or your local chemist.
You really need to sort this out. Before it gets really unbearable.
And Don't itch.
I know I had this with my second child.
I know it is embarrassing but shes a woman and your a woman. They have had to do this a lot with other woman like me!!
I hope I have helped you a little bit.

I got it after antibiotics while pregnant. Midwife will just Canesten, she won't want to look. You have to have a pessary though to do yourself at home as the tablet form is not safe in pregnancy.

No she won't. She'll ask what symptoms you've had and then give you a prescription for a canesten pessary or cream. You can't have the pills as they aren't safe in pregnancy.

Yeah she will but I think they have seen it all before. They are professionals and are the best people to advise you. Thrush is a common ailment suffered by many for very different reasons. Please don't worry.
