my state is paying for ny tuition and me to attend due to union job shut down this was a great oportunity now I am offered a job at 20 an hour with a well known company nation wide,I am at a dilema as to take the job or continue me degree. (sophomere statuse)

I'm 43 and cant finish my education due to lack of funds! I would give my right arm and leg to receive and finish my education! Money will come and money will go. Do not give up an opportunity to finish your education. Besides when your done with your education, you command that wage to make anyway! You'll probably get it even without asking. Go finish your education and let the job go until you graduate. You'll probably never get the opportunity ever again.

$20 an hour sounds like a lot of money when you have never made $20 an hour before. But after a year or 2 of making $20 an hour, you realize it isn't quite as much money as you thought. Especially when you account for taxes, the cost of that new car you are going to buy or lease and the increased rent you are going to pay with the upgraded apartment. When I first began making $20 an hour, I thought I was rich! But really you just move up to a nicer apartment/house, a little nicer car, and you are back to scrambling for money!
The more education you can get the better, I think. It will pay off in the long run with higher salaries in the future.

If you take the job, get married, or have kids in the mean time, you can forget finishing your degree. Unless, the classes are offered at night and you have a wife/gf that is willing to do 90% of housework and you can maintain a full time job and 2 classes a week.
Oh yes, as others have indicated, it's a HELL of a lot harder paying for college when you have an income, than when you don't. Financial aid drops if you're making 40k a year.

There are many ifs and buts in your delemma. My first reaction would be to continue with school. I don't know what you are studying, however, if it is a strong viable major then you should continue with it. Will the job offer allow you to work at night after school? Perhaps you can do both? This isn't an easy one to advise because I don't know what kind of job you have been offered at $20/hr (not a breathtaking salary) and I don't know what subjects you are studying in college. Nowadays one can't get a decent job without a college degree. Good luck!

I'm making $16.50 an hour with over time at $24.75. I work 12 hour shifts meaning I work anywhere from 48 to 60 hours a week. Overtime starts after 36 hours in a week. And I'm barely keeping a float. Stay in college and get a degree in something you like to do because when its time to pay those bills you'll start having second thoughts of your great $20 an hour job.

I'm a headhunter/ career consultant and we give people better, higher paying jobs for a living, my advice is to stay in school. No matter how much work experience you gain, unless you plan to put up your own business later on, you will hit a career ceiling.
Plus better educated people get higher pay by at least 15% than their non-graduate counterpart.
This job now may be a temporary gain, later on when you want a better, higher paying, more stable career you will regret not having a solid education.

Look which will have the best future in the long run. A truck driver will make a lot more money than a college grad, for a while, then will be surpassed if the college grad is successful. I've also known a lot of very successful people who never finished college. What is really more important to you the long term or the short term?

Go for the degree, with the cost of living going up every year 20 a hour won't be much sooner than you think

Finish your education. That's not enough money to make it worth your while to abandon your education. A degree will enable you to get higher-paying jobs in the future.
