Oh, I make my share of mistakes, but I take the blame too. But then when they're looking for the person that's covering up their mistake, they don't look at me, because they know if it was mine, I'd have been the first to tell them. You get a lot of credit for taking your own blame, and you never have to get blamed for someone else's mistakes.

Did that make any sense?

I do not own but accept my mistakes if at all there's any, honestly, sincerely, always learning a lesson by it, but never trying to cover them. Better not to for everyone, as one lie & mistake leads to another & then another.....

I own my mistakes and apologize or make restitution immediately. It is important to me, as part of my rejection of organized religion, to make clear that I and I alone bear responsibility for my actions.

It isn't temptation by an imaginary devil, and no trumped-up Jesus hasn't taken responsibility for my transgressions.

It depends on the situation. I have done both and I feel better when I own up to them.
