I was to curious to know why Linkin Park, the sensational rock band from southern California made so much progress with 2 of their albums [ Hybrid Theory + Meteora] .. which were massive hitz and went Multi-platinum? How come they reached global status while many other good bands thats also sound awesome are lagging behind? Is it da big bucks.. that promote these artists with their videos worldwide or is it the world wide fan-base...???

Interesting question you got there. I think i might know the answer. Their popularity is due to the structure of their songs. You will notice that many, if not all, of their material are very catchy in terms of melody. The build-up of the song makes you want to keep on listening, and when the chorus comes, it hits you in the face due to sheer melody. Length of songs are also kept to bare minimums throughout the album. This has the advantage of not boring the listener, because even though the tunes are melodious, it could become irritating after a while.
Another factor could be their unique style of slight-hardrock and rap. These are two genres that are easily accepted. Mike Shinoda's rapping may not be the best but it's still good, and Chester's screaming and clean vocals do add a nice touch to the songs. Linkin Park managed to capture fans who open to cross-genre music.

Probably all of the support from their fans...they have excellent music and when they kno how to promote and their fans spread the word about them...they become more popular...

I think it's a lack of imagination on the part of the fan, not to mention they have terrible taste.
They're a "corporate" group; manufactured for mass consumption. I have a problem with that. JMO

Meteora was excellent. The lyrics were wonderful.
However, I despise them now for their hybridding of crap lyrics and crap hip hop.
