You're entitled to your opinion, but quite frankly, I'd question your system since you rate the likes of Adriano, "Zlatan" (I presume you are referring to Ibrahimavic) and Kaka, none of whom have lived up to their reputations on the big stage, or been around long enough to stand the test of time. Gerrard has failed to deliver at international level, too. As for Ronaldo, his career ended three years ago and never really fully recovered from the knee injury he sustained at 22, anyway. It's pitiful watching him now.
It strikes me that you are simply following trends; these are all the glamour boys in your list and right now, Rooney's been a naughty boy and the media are out to bring him down. Give him four to six weeks to regain his form after injury and suspension enforcing a stoccata start to this season and he'll be shoving those words down your throats again.
If you actually watched football properly, rather than relying on the hype machine to tell you what to think, you would appreciate the raw talent that Wayne Rooney is. The only other player on your list who can be called truly great is Ronaldhino.
Oh, and unless you're counting your afterthought of Christiano Ronaldo, you have only listed 9 players in your top ten. Idiot.

none of the players you mentioned were great players at rooneys age. its all about potential with rooney. if he keeps improving he will be awesome. you cant compare him with a 30 year old like shevchenko who has been in the game for so long. not many people have such an influence on games when they are so young. the real question should have been how did someone so ugly not get drowned at birth....

I liked him the first time I saw him in the cup. But he didn't do anything the rest of the cup but fight, cry and complaint. Yesterday, I saw about 1 hour of Manchester and Celtic. He asked for a penalty kick every time somebody looked at him. To bad, I think there is talent there.

I recog Rooney is the kind of player who was born with two good legs for football. He can run fast and react instantly to whatever happens to the game, but he is bad temper makes him too easily being distracted and that's why he didn't score as much goals as he should be, as you said, he might be overated for now.

Don't think he's overated. He excelled at Everton because he was forced to. At Utd he's just another number.
Watch A. Johnson this season - think he will exceed all those you listed in the question as every one of them is lazy.
