I'd rather had bad times with you
than good times with someone else
Id rather be beside with you in a storm
than safe and warm by myself
I'd rather had bad times together
than to have it easy apart
I'd rather have the one who holds my heart

Don't read too much into lyrics. Sometimes the writer just likes the sound of the words. Paul Simon's song "Mother and Child Reunion" came from an item on a Chinese restaurant menu. It was a dish that featured egg and chicken. He loved the title and wrote a song around it. "What the Mama saw" means nothing, he just liked the words. The best example of lyrics being totally meaningless is John Lennon's, "I am The Walrus". Lennon, upon hearing that the Beatles' songs were being studied for their true meaning, wrote this song to "f" with them. My favorite is the line from a Jefferson Airplane song ,"It doesn't mean s**t to a tree".

Beautiful lyrics showing total, unconditional love! The writer is saying that he'd rather be with this person he has in mind rather than anyone else on earth, even if it meant that he would have to brave storms or bad times.

I would interpret these lyrics to mean that someone loves someone else, very much, and wants to be with them again and is sorry they every split/never got together.

I would also say that this is someone who bases their self worth on having the love of another, but that's just the psych classes talking.

I'd rather be with you than be with someone else. I'll be with you whatever it takes, for better or for worse, because you hold my heart.

The person who wrote the lyrics is doing what I call romantic oratory and what some women call bullshit in order to get his wicked way.

I think they're basically saying they would rather go through the rough, shitty stuff with the person they love, the be alone and go through all the great stuff.

you sound like someone who doesn't have any backbone.

you don't have inner strength to see yourself through adversity and you lean on the other person too much.
