Is the new set-up of the Uefa-cup with the group matches and the inclusion of the cup winners (formerly in the EC 2) an improvement compared to the old set-up or is it just a commercial thing which doesn't really have benefits for the fans and/or clubs?

You must be a true Man United fan, not knowing they play in the Champions League, and not in the Uefa Cup. BTW what do those stars stand for?

european football was killed off with the invention of the 'champions' league. i cant handle how the teams that muck up in that are put into the uefa cup. it just gives the big boys a safety net and gives the little teams less chance of a little moment of glory. group stages are set up to stop little teams knocking out big teams on a one off basis. if a big team loses a game it doesnt really matter because they know over a league format their bigger squads and better players will come good. the G14 mob are killing off competitive games and making the rich teams a hell of lot richer. the only way to compete is to have a billionaire benefactor(like Chelsea) because the revenue the big boys generate dictate where the best players go. sorry im ranting now i better sign off and lie down....yours an angry West Ham fan

He has done well with Everton. I personally wouldn't want him there and he has a dislike for United I think . I don't know about the players. Not something Rooney and a couple of others would be happy about.

We'll most certainly watch more games than we used to. So, although it has some commercial implications built in it, fans will also get a certain level of benefit.

it does benefit the clubs, but the competition itself is still seen as a bit of a wooden spoon by most. the new format is easier than the old one, but the quality of the teams depeciates every year.
