First you have to watch as much as you can, get to know the teams, the players, the coaches, the tactics, the goalkeepers, etc then decide your favourite team.
A lot of people supports to their home town/city, you can do the same, if not, try to support to one player, once you become a big fan of the player, you will like the team too.
I used to like Beckham when he was in Manchester United, once he moved to Real Madrid i started to support RM.
For myself, in the Premiership i am into Chelsea, because i like the coach very much, he manages Oporto from Portugal and won the championship in Portugal. He also made Chelsea to be top of the ranking in premiership too!

This is a weird question, cos u should support a team following your own favour instead of seeking advice from others. But if you do want some info, I can give u.
In terms of big name stars, Chelsea is the best team to watch; in terms of surprises, Everton would be your choice; in terms of breakthrough team(s), I would suggest you to watch West Ham and Aston Villa, cos they do have some exciting new players and/or management staffs joined them this season.

Arsenal, recognised as the team playing the most attractive football in the league. Or Portsmouth for the huge support they receive even on bad days.

watch match of the day and any games you can and decide on players/ teams you take a liking too as we are all bias towards our own teams. choose a mid table teaqm prefferably as they are more nerveracking and exciting to support. spurs of course would be great choice as we have lively lennon for a start!

I think you should support Newcastle United, their fans are passionate even though their team is playing crap at the moment. You can watch them on Channel 5 @ 3.55 today playing in the UEFA cup to help you make your mind up.

Liverpool. they have achieved and continue to be the benchmark that all premiership clubs aspire to.
they also have another premiership club very close in everton and an extremely good league one club close by in tranmere.
all in all the northwest is an extremely good area to follow football.
